A Happy Announcement
The grip to be a writer has always had a hold on me. For many years it held me in a tenuous tether, hardly noticeable, but always twisted around my heart. In more recent times, it's wrapped tighter, more insistent and hungry for something to flourish.
Afraid to lose my days in something which may not be God's will for me, I've prayed for Him to close any doors which didn't take me where He wanted me to be. Instead, He kept opening them, wider and wider, until I couldn't tell where the breath of His desire began and mine finished.
For some time now my wips (works in progress) have stayed in the shadows - close to my heart where I could grow them as I fancied. They've taken shape and become something to fret over, and I understand why many writers call their books, their 'babies'.
But babies can't stay in the shadows forever.
Thanks to the wonderful people at HyalineHouse Publishing, I'm thrilled to announce my first book contract. That's right! I can now call myself a contracted writer!
I think I'm still a little stunned as I wake up each day to realise afresh my work is headed to an editor, a publisher and perhaps this time next year, maybe even you!
There's much work to be done between now and then, but today there's time to celebrate and give thanks to God who smiles on our dreams and raises others to carry them alongside us.
In the months ahead I hope to share more about the path to publication and perhaps even a glimpse of my story, an Australian Historical Romance set in 1875 called The Everlasting.
Anyone want to kick their heels and do a happy jig with me?

Kicking my heels with you, and jumping for joy, Dottie! Woohoo! Amen and Praise the Lord. As one who has similar aspirations of being a published and paid author someday, I especially rejoice with you! And I would love to hear the journey the Lord has taken you on to reach this point. I will be praying for you each step of the way to publication:)
